Rimon Bengiamin  M.D.

Rimon is a graduate of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. He was active in several extracurricular activities including AMSA, Doctors Ought to Care, Physicians for Human Rights (Co-founder), and the Campus/Student Health Advisory Committee.  Rimon was involved in several research endeavors, including principle investigator on projects for the implementation of standard screening guidelines for breast cancer, and evaluating the relationship between patients and physician interactions in a Jordanian and Egyptian population.  He enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and cooking.

Gavin Budhram M.D.

Gavin attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine.  He was an officer of  EMIG at KU, and the Chairperson of the KU School of Medicine Honor Council.  Gavin provided medical care at both the JayDoc Free Clinic and the Hays Medical Center Indigent Care Clinic as a student physician.  His undergraduate research included work in molecular biology and plant genetics.  His hobbies include photography, rock climbing, and webpage design.

Sharon Carmody  M.D.

Prior to completing her medical training at the University of Pittsburg School of Medicine, Sharon obtained her MBA at Dartmouth College.  She received a Student Scholar Grant from the American Society of Nephrology and spent a year performing research on her project entitled “Defining the impact of palliative care intervention on symptom burden, quality of life and end-of-life care in ESRD patients”.  Sharon enjoys family time, aerobic kickboxing, and outdoor activities

Scott Davarn  M.D.

A graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, Scott was first exposed to Emergency Medicine by his mother, an ED nurse.  He was involved in several volunteer activities at the University of Washington.  His research focused on quality of life issues in chemotherapy patients.  Scott enjoys skiing, golf, and intramural sports.

Anne Lapine  M.D.

Anne attended the Medical College of Wisconsin and was a member of the AOA honor society.  Anne initially pursued training in IM/Peds at Brown Medical School, but quickly “saw the light” of EM.  As a research assistant, Anne has been involved in several projects in the ED at Rhode Island Hospital.  Anne enjoys playing the flute and piano, professional sports, physical fitness, and video games

Daniel Lewis  M.D.

After working as a paramedic around the world (including HCMC in the late 1980’s), Daniel completed his medical training at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine.  He received a North Dakota Medical Association Outstanding Student Award for integrative reasoning and patient application, awarded by faculty and his peers.  EMS is a topic near and dear to his heart.  Daniel enjoys sports, reading, and chess.

Carolyn McClain  M.D.

From Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Carolyn wanted to be a movie star before her career in medicine.  She worked for 20th Century Fox, Universal Studios, and Castlerock Pictures in her former life.  In addition she was the co-founder of Insurgency Pictures, a small multi-media company to develop internal marketing and advertising strategy for corporate clients.  She was a research assistant at the University of California San Francisco, and worked on ED overcrowding at Johns Hopkins.  Carolyn enjoys reading, writing (and arithmetic), exercising, and travel.

Lisa Skinner  M.D.

During medical school at Oregon Health Sciences University, Lisa was involved in several extracurricular activities, the Association of Students for Underserved, Wilderness Medicine, International Medicine, Women’s Health, and Holistic Medicine Interest Groups.  She also volunteered at free clinics for the underserved as well as Spanish speaking patients.  She was a research assistant at OHSU and the University of New Hampshire.  Lisa enjoys outdoor activities, cooking, and home improvement.

Kathleen Stirling  M.D.

Kathleen received AOA recognition from Wayne State University School of Medicine.  During medical school she was an employment counselor for the homeless and unemployed in San Francisco.  She completed a semester in Ecuador during her undergraduate training, where she honed her Spanish language skills.  Kathleen enjoys competitive running, traveling, and water/downhill skiing

Nathan Unkefer  M.D.

Nathan attended Wayne State University School of Medicine.  He is a member of the AOA honor society.  During his undergraduate studies at Michigan State University, he received the Outstanding Senior Award and the Lyman Briggs Student of the Year Award before graduating.  He performed research in fungal diseases of plants.  Nathan enjoys competitive running, camping, and downhill skiing.

Katie Vogt  M.D.

Katie graduated from the University of Minnesota-Minneapolis School of Medicine after spending a year as a manager of a surgical pathology lab.  During medical school she served on the Student Health Advisory Committee and the Student bioethics committee.  Her research was performed in entomology.  Katie enjoys reading, food, outdoor activities, and playing the piano.
