This on-the-job reference provides guidance for interpreting the difficult ECG and determining the need for reperfusion therapy. Each chapter offers key points, general background, and 12-lead ECG examples of infarction and of pseudoinfarction to help in detecting coronary occlusion and its look-alikes. There are also prehospital rhythm strips as examples for comparison, plus 200 case histories with 300 12-lead ECGs to highlight the role of the ECG within a clinical context. There is an annotated bibliography at the end of each chapter.
The book is intended for emergency physicians, cardiologists, and cardiac care nurses, and for anyone who cares for patients with chest pain. Smith teaches clinical emergency medicine at the University Of Minnesota School Of Medicine.
